THE STUDIO NOW...
Updated 18th November 2006
Inta-Audio SOS Workstation
Running Cubase SX3 - and verious plugs ins...
This is the heart of my studio, I have always used Cubase for
sequencing mainly midi, but with computer audio becoming so powerful
I had to move on and I now use a lot of audio. I use soft synths a
lot with my external midi kit but the main use for audio for me is
effects and mastering. I even record all my midi tracks but
into the computer for EQ/FX.
Mackie Onyx
400f - Firewire Soundcard - This has amazing preamps and the
sound is amazing!
Mackie
control - After having my 01X i couldnt be would out a
control surface and this is the ultimate control surface!
Korg Triton LE
A great synth, It has a lot of sounds covering most genres of
music, I use this as my controller keyboard and couldn't be without
it.
Novation KS5
A new addition to the studio, in the first day I did two tunes
with it, It has a load of really dirty synth sounds perfect for dance
music, unlike the Triton it is based around making your own sounds.
I was surprised how easy it was to use for a synth, I can see a load
more tracks being made with this.
Roland JV2080 (with Bass and drums Board
I have had this baby for nearly 7 years! I only use it for
the bass and drums board because the sounds are so real and warm.
You'll find that 99% of my funkier tunes are bass lines from the JV2080.
There are tons of other sounds on here too but I never seem to get
round to using them. I can never see me getting rid of this.
HHB Circle 5 studio monitors with
Samson
260 servo amp
An absolutely great set of monitors with an overpowered amp for
solid sound quality. The best monitors I have heard.
Korg Electribe ER-1 drum machine
A great little drum machine, I used to use this in every
hard house production I did before, but seemed to stop using it in my
funkier productions. It's a great drum machine and you can make your
own drums sounds, but for some reason I hardly touch it now.
Korg Electribe EA-1
Synth
Some of the sounds on here are awesome, but for the same
reason as the ER-1 I haven't used it for a while. It's one of those things I
never get round to! I would probably say this is one of the
dirtiest synths I have heard. Emu
Orbit V2
I hardly ever use this anymore, I borrowed it from Dave @
Inta-audio ages ago. I mainly used it for the percussion sounds.
I guess this will be heading back to Dave's house now. Thanks Dave.
Zoom 1204
FX Unit
Before the days or Cubase SX, the Yamaha O1X and O1V I
used to use these effects processors. I found nothing wrong with them
at all and they did there job very well. They are not needed now,
same.
Yamaha REX 50 FX unit
I borrowed these off a friend about 10 years ago but he left the
company I was working for. Tim, if your reading this it's here waiting for ya!
EQUIPMENT I HAVE HAD IN THE PAST..
Yamaha O1X
Digital Mixing Desk / Soundcard / Control Surface...
Spirit by soundcraft studio 16ch mixing
desk
A massive analogue desk, I used to love just looking at this. The warm sound it created is sadly missed.
Yamaha RM1X synth
Not a bad synth, it just didn't work out.
Midiman 8x8 midisport interface
With all the midi equipment I had I needed this 8in 8out midi
interface and it performed flawlessly for years. The O1X has 2
midi ports so I didn't need it anymore.
Yamaha O1V Digital mixing desk
I loved this desk, but after seeing the O1X I had to have it,
the O1X takes everything from the O1V and adds so much more.
Korg M1 Synth
A splendid synth with nice keys, and with the famous piano sound.
Roland W30 Synth
The synth/sampler that the Prodigy used to use, but to tell you
the truth I just didn't get on with it!
Technics PX9 full size electric piano
This beast dominated my studio for a while, I used it as my main
controller and it was great to use fully weighted keys. I had
to sell it because I needed the room!
Numark CDN34 CD mixing decks with Vestax
PMC25 mixer
I sold these when I was desperate for money, what a croc!
Evolution MK149 midi controller keyboard
Controllers have moved on so much from this little thing, but it
was great at the time. Spirit Absolute 2's Monitors
Alesis 3630 Compressor
KAM KCD990 CD mixing decks
EMU ESI4000 Turbo sampler, upgraded memory, 250mb zip drive,
internal pc scsi cdrom drive, 10 Emu cds roms
